Introduction To The CUTI

Hi Gang:

Welcome to the Canadian Union of Taxpaying Individuals or CUTI or CUT-I blog!

The CUTI was founded in 1995 while the founder was still in the School of Graduate Studies at Carleton University in the City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

The founder firmly believed that there were gaps in the field of Canadian tax policy which were not being filled by the mandate undertaken by the older Canadian Taxpayers Federation when it was created back in 1990.

Thus the CUTI founder set about researching and analyzing Canada's taxation mix with the goal of providing and of advocating new, innovative and hopefully better tax alternatives more closely allied to the demands of the 21st Century.

The CUTI founder discovered that most taxes used within Canada had existed even before the 1st French Revolution of 1789. Thus, the CUTI founder concluded, the tax mix of 1813 was essentially the same as it was today in 2013. This - he concluded - was not a desirable state for contemporary taxation.

I hope that you will check back to see the occasional updates from the CUTI as they become available.
